A Bristol Wedding to Remember: Mr & Mr. Goodman’s Celebration at St Mary Redcliffe Church and Coombe Lodge

On 24th May 2025, I had the absolute pleasure of travelling to Bristol to capture Mr and Mrs Goodman’s unforgettable wedding day. From a grand church ceremony in the heart of the city to a warm and joyful celebration at Coombe Lodge in Blagdon, this Bristol wedding was full of meaningful moments, big emotions, and non-stop joy.
The Morning: Calm Chaos & Sisterhood
The day began in the most heartwarming way. I arrived at a friend’s house where Amy and her nine bridesmaids (yes—nine!) and four flower girls were getting ready. The house was full of life—laughter in every room, music playing, pastries being passed around, and an undeniable sense of excitement. Amy, calm and radiant, did her own hair and makeup while her bridal party buzzed around her with excitement.
Once she was in her dress, Amy had a stunning reveal at the bottom of the stairs. There were happy tears, cheers, and hugs all around before they all boarded a red double-decker London bus ready to be whisked off to the ceremony.

The Ceremony: A Regal Moment in the Heart of a Bristol Wedding
St Mary Redcliffe Church in central Bristol is truly majestic. With its soaring architecture and rich history, it set a dramatic and meaningful stage for Amy and Charlie’s vows. Charlie was waiting at the front, his dad officiating the ceremony, which added a deeply personal touch.
As Amy walked down the aisle—escorted by her brother—Charlie’s face lit up. The ceremony included traditional hymns and a full choir, making the whole experience feel almost royal. It was one of those weddings where every word felt weighted with love.
After saying “I do,” the newlyweds exited the church through a paper confetti tunnel. Filling the air with colour and laughter. It was the kind of photo moment every wedding photographer dreams of capturing at a Bristol wedding.

The Journey & Reception: Scenic, Emotional, and Joyful
While guests made their way to Coombe Lodge on the red double-decker, Amy and Charlie took the scenic route in a vintage convertible. As they pulled up to the lodge, they were greeted by the sound of bagpipes. A dramatic and moving entrance for a couple who clearly know how to make a moment memorable.
Canapés and drinks were served on the lawn, the weather warm and overcast. Just enough sun to stay outside, just enough cloud to make the colours pop in every photo. One of my favourite parts of the day – Simply standing still and listening to the sound of people reconnecting, laughing, and genuinely enjoying being together.

Speeches, Dancing & Mamma Mia Magic
After some relaxed couple portraits around the grounds (yes, even a little rain couldn’t dampen their energy!), Amy and Charlie made a grand entrance into their wedding breakfast.
The speeches were everything a photographer—and a guest—could hope for. Amy’s mum kicked things off, followed by a surprise speech from her younger sister. The maid of honour kept everyone laughing, and Charlie’s emotional, funny, and heartfelt speech brought both laughter and tears. The best man wrapped it all up with the perfect dose of humour. But also some of the nicest words about the newly married couple.
As the sun faded, the party ramped up. A string quartet transitioned into a DJ set that instantly filled the dance floor. Mamma Mia hits kept the vibe high as guests laughed, sang, and danced their hearts out. Cake cutting, a first dance, pizza, and some serious dance moves wrapped up this incredible Bristol wedding celebration.

Whether it was the historic beauty of St Mary Redcliffe Church, the joy-filled bus rides through the city, or the magical moments at Coombe Lodge. Amy and Charlie’s Bristol wedding was the perfect blend of tradition, personality, and pure fun.
If you’re planning a Bristol wedding and want those big moments and little glances captured forever, I’d love to be part of your story. Let’s create some magic together.
