LGBTQ Wedding Photographer – A Seaside Celebration

Maddy & Claire’s Seaside Celebration of Queer Love

A Colourful, Joyful LGBTQ+ Wedding in Cornwall

As an LGBTQ+ wedding photographer, it’s hard to put into words just how special it is to witness love that refuses to be anything but real. Maddy and Claire’s wedding on 15th June 2024 was exactly that – a wildly joyful, sun-drenched celebration of queer love, set against the stunning Cornish coastline. It was intimate, intentional, and unforgettable. A day I know, that I will never forget and neither will any of their guests!

Getting Ready Together at Three Mile Beach

The day began at Three Mile Beach – a place filled with brightly coloured beach houses nestled in the dunes of Gwithian. Maddy and Claire got ready there together, surrounded by their closest people. There was no stress, just laughter, tears, and support from their family and wedding party.

They shared a quiet first look with each other in their wedding dresses. This was then followed by a beautiful reveal to all their friends and family staying nearby. Cheers, clapping, and joyful tears filled the space. It was a powerful moment of pride and visibility that celebrated who they are and the love that they share!

Portraits Among Cliffs, Sea, and Sunshine

Before heading to the venue, they chose to do their family photos and couple portraits early. With the Cornish coast on one side and countryside on the other, the setting couldn’t have been more perfect. And definitely a way to make the most of your day!

Though Claire once dreamed of eloping while Maddy wanted a full wedding, they found the perfect middle ground: running hand in hand along the clifftops with the blue sky above, the Godrevy Lighthouse in the background, and the sea crashing below. It was cinematic, romantic, and completely them. We managed to squeeze this in just before we travelled down to their ceremony.

A Ceremony Led by Love

They arrived at The Rockpool in a camper van and were married in a heartfelt ceremony led by one of their best friends. Maddy sang her vows, Claire read her own beautiful words, and together they crafted a ceremony as unique and honest as their love story!

Then the drinks reception followed with cocktails, windswept canapés, and a whole load of sunshine and sunglasses! There were outdoor speeches full of raw emotion. And their grand entrance into their meal brought the biggest cheers of the day and of course some swinging napkins!

Margaritas, Magic & Running Into the Sea

As the day went on, margaritas flowed and the vibe only got better. Even with a bit of drizzle in the air, Maddy and Claire were determined to head to the beach for some time with each other!

What happened next was pure magic. With their dresses hitched up and feet in the sand, they ran. Like something out of a film, they sprinted through the surf! Then they laughed with abandon, kissed under soft rain, and hugged like no one was watching. It wasn’t staged. Or perfect. But it was real, and it was everything queer love should be – unfiltered, full of joy, and completely free.

Moments like this remind me of why I love my job so much! Being an LGBTQ+ wedding photographer, capturing true moments of joy that will live on, no matter how long ago they took place!

A Night of Dancing, Saxophones, and a Midnight Swim

The day finished with dancing to live saxophone & a DJ & laughter echoing off the dunes. Cornish pasties passed around as late-night snacks, and an impromptu midnight swim. Maddy and Claire didn’t just get married – they created a moment in time! One that honoured their story, their people, and the pride they carry!
