As a family and wedding photographer, my answer will always be YES! Yes you definitely should book a family photoshoot. But hopefully after reading this, you will understand exactly why I think it should be a hell yeah and how you will never regret it!
What is the point of a family photoshoot?
You might think exactly this, why should I and what is the point? What is the benefit when I have the new iPhone 17, I can take my own?
I totally understand this. BUT.. Part of family photoshoots that I enjoy the most is the opportunity for everyone there to be fully present. No distractions, no rushing, no where else to be! For one hour, you are full in the moment with your kids, listening to them, laughing with them, loving them.
We all have busy lives and because of this time goes by too quickly. Booking in and making time to make memories is something we don’t do enough and a family photoshoot allows you to do exactly that!
Will it be expensive?
I totally get how expensive every day is at the moment. Which is why I offer affordable family photoshoot packages where you don’t have to pay per photo, you get the WHOLE lot!
The photoshoots that I run are an hour long, you get all of your photos and they are all uploaded on to a secure online gallery for you to view and send to family and friends. There is also your very own online store for you to pick & choose any photos you want printed or added to personalised gifts! You get all of this for £150!
If you decided you wanted to book in for a photoshoot each year, so that you can capture your children growing every step of the way, this photoshoot works out at £12.50 a month.. girl math says that’s cheaper than Netflix which makes it definitely worth it!
What if my kids don’t behave?
Believe it or not, you don’t necessarily need them to, to get great photos! Kids get used to standing and saying ‘cheese’ every time you want to take a photo of them. That isn’t how this works!
I want your photos to feel REAL! The chaos and excitement of your life in this very moment! Never mind your clothes getting wet because this time you’ve decided to jump in the puddles with them, rather than walk around the edge or your big ‘ugly’ smile coming out because they’re making you cry laugh. THIS, is what these photos are about because this is the era of life you are in NOW. Don’t miss out on having that frozen in time forever!
I hate having my photo taken, so will I feel awkward?
I promise you, the family photoshoots that I run do not feel like being stood behind someone’s phone in front of the London eye being told to smile. They are fun, full of energy or filled with calmness and love.
The more in the moment you are with your family, the more you will completely forget about the fact that I am taking your photo. Remember, these aren’t studio photos. They are real life and are about creating memories that are captured, not about looking prim and proper!
Will I regret a family photoshoot?
No. Never. Definitely not.
Like I said earlier, time goes by way too fast. Have you ever looked back at a photo and thought ‘wow I really wish I never took that photo’, probably not. But have you ever looked back at a time in your life and thought, ‘I really wish I had taken more photos of that moment’. Or ‘I really wish I had more photos of that person’ more than likely, the answer is yes.
This is your reminder to not let that happen again. I believe every photo tells a story. And it is very easy to let the days go by and let your story fill the pages. One day those days that were going by could get forgotten and the laughter, the small hands and the sandy toes, will be in the past. This is your way to make these little details last forever.
