A Woodland Wedding in Devon

A Whimsical woodland wedding atmosphere is exactly what Sarah and Philip knew they wanted to create all along. Under the oak tree at Middle Coombe Farm was what they dreamt of. And that is exactly the place they said I do.

A wedding morning at Middle Coombe Farm

Sarah and Philip spent the morning together with their two dogs and Philips two children. When I arrived, the Farm house at Middle Coombe Farm was buzzing with excitement for the day!

Middle Coombe Farm allows you to book out the venue for the whole weekend, so they had enjoyed settling in the day before and were all looking forward to Sarah & Philip’s special day.

Another unique thing about this beautiful woodland wedding venue is the walk that you and your guests take to get to the oak tree. It is a gorgeous walk through the woods to get to the secluded location where couples get to say I do.

As their guests arrived and they both got ready it was time for their guests to take that walk. I followed on with Philip and his groomsmen. On the way, Philip told me about Rae’s path – the path you take to get to the oak tree.

When they first viewed the venue, they knew it would be the one they chose after Sarah realised the last walk she would take as a Miss, would be one that shared the name with her late Grandfather. What a special sign for them both.

A Woodland Wedding Ceremony

Their ceremony was underneath the Oak tree just a short walk from the rest of the venue. They had their own private vows as well as a separate handfasting ceremony afterwards. Small wooden birds decorated by each guest, were just some of the handmade decorations that surrounded them for these moments.

A string quartet is what they chose for their music and it was the perfect background to this whimsical ceremony under the trees. To add to all of the heartfelt, hand crafted decorations they also had dried flower petals for their confetti.

The sun was literally gifting us for the walk back, providing the perfect backdrop for their mass walk back with their guests.

Whimsical Wedding Reception

Sarah & Philip’s wedding day was hot, hot, hot. So after managing to corral everyone together for one big group photo, they all enjoyed drinks and canapes in the sun.

They had also decided to have a live artist drawing pictures of all of their guests. So this was something super fun for everyone to get involved with and watch inside the Cider barn.

As the day moved on, the guests all moved up to the marquee for the meal. The marquee is just up the hill from where the canapes and drinks were served which provides a gorgeous view of the venue. Especially as the sun began to set!

They finished their day with cutting the cake, sharing their first dance and enjoying the gorgeous sunshine with all of their guests. As well as the late night pizza of course!
