Elope in the UK – Real Elopement in Wales

Tucked away in the Pembrokeshire countryside, Nantwen provides the perfect sanctuary for intimate elopements. I photographed an elopement at Nantwen in 2025 and I knew when I left, I just had to come back!

A couple of months later, Anna & Will popped into my inbox. They were planning a small wedding celebration with their toddler, dog and their two best friends. Knowing they wanted to celebrate getting married and promising their lives to each other but without the chaos.

A Morning at Nantwen

I arrived a couple of hours before their ceremony and as soon as I walked in, it was like walking in to my long lost friends! This is one thing I pride myself in with my couples – creating such a strong relationship beforehand, so that on the day we already feel completely connected.

Tilly, their pooch, greeted me as soon as I walked in. And this is what’s so special about elopements. The calm but the equal importance of every single member being valued and included.

The girls got ready upstairs whilst the boys scoured YouTube for the best tie tying video they could find! Despite quite a lot of rain through the morning, the weather gradually eased and provided lighter rain and even a bit of brightness from the sun trying to push through.

Eloping is also great with young children because there is no pressure for them to be on top form. There is space for the big feelings, time to adjust and navigate making the day important for them too. Whilst being a lot less stress for the couple.

Before long, everyone was dressed and ready to go, the registrars arrived and we all moved into the ceremony room – besides Anna of course.

A Nantwen Ceremony

Anna & Will’s ceremony has to be up there with the most love filled ceremony I’ve ever witnessed! One thing that I remember so clearly from Anna’s vows was how Will loves so loudly and boy was that so clear. And this is exactly why they picked perfectly when they decided to elope in the UK. It gave them space, without pressure, to love as loudly as they wanted and in their own special way.

They exchanged vows and rings whilst their guests exchanged raisins with their little boy. There was laughter, tears, kisses and dancing. The perfect mixture for an all so perfect ceremony.

After being announced as the new Mr& Mrs, the music came on and they all just danced. One of the most pure moments I’ve witnessed.

Eloping doesn’t mean you have to miss out on anything either! Anna & Will had confetti, they cut their cake and everyone shared a homemade charcuterie board. There was even time for some Farmer Ted on the tv – iykyk.

A Trip to the Beach – Couple & Family Portraits

By this point, the sun had decided it was going to come out and the wind was going to pick up instead. But, if you know me, I am ever the optimist. Regardless of weather I will always be out there with you – and on this day, my trousers, soaked up to my knees, proved just that.

We all headed down to Newport beach, with it’s dark sand, on a day like this it almost looked like a black sand beach!

Anna & Will threw caution to the wind – literally. They took their shoes off and ran towards the sea. Running, kissing and splashing around. I think visiting a beach on your wedding day does something to your soul, it allows you to feel free and act crazy in some of the most expensive clothes you own!

There was wind, rain, drizzle and mist. But every single memories they made, and every photo I took just oozes true love.

This was a real life example of how amazing an elopement can be! I absolutely love elopements and am so excited to be leaning into them even more in 2027.

Anna & Will’s day is a perfect example of how you can plan to elope in the UK without missing out on any of the celebration and excitement of a big wedding day.
